JCA Interiors: Autumn/ Winter 2014 Trends

Interior design has many parallels with personal styling. The decisions you make are very similar in that you want to buy timeless pieces that you can use year after year but you also want to have some items that are up-to-date with current trends. As with fashion, interior design will change and be influenced by the weather and climate. With winter approaching here are some top tips for Autumn/Winter 2014 interior design trends.

The current go-to theme for interior wall colours is grey. Whatever the tone, from dark to light, by blending a mix of greys you can guarantee your interiors will be on trend. Paint specialists Farrow and Ball have a fantastic range to explore. For subtle, lighter tones try “Cornforth White” or for more impact “Purbeck Stone “.

Indigo is also a popular colour for Autumn/ Winter 2014. You can combine it with grey or brown for a beautiful, luxurious look. Ralph Lauren make some fabulous quilted bedspreads in navy, grey and cream, which would look great in any bedroom and would coordinate a blue and grey scheme.

Another trend that will be a focus this Autumn/Winter is baroque, which can ooze old school glamour if used in moderation. We recommend using it in small quantities for example changing a couple of cushion covers or lampshades.

Surprisingly, pastel floral patterns are now coming into fashion. This is a trend that you would normally associate with Spring/Summer however this year it will be popular into the colder months.  Artwork canvases are an easy, cost effective way to include this trend; artists such as Sue Fenton and Catherine Stephenson create beautiful pieces which will work in most interior design schemes.

At JCA Interiors we embrace interior design trends however we recognise that these trends come and go so we always make sure that the large items of furniture are timeless elegant pieces that will never go out of fashion.
